The Future Unfolds: Exciting Developments on the Peachtree Creek Greenway
In the heart of Metro Atlanta, a remarkable transformation is underway. The Peachtree Creek Greenway (PCG), a beacon of urban revitalization and community connection, is progressing towards a future where nature, recreation, and accessibility coalesce. I wanted to update you on the upcoming developments in the PCG and to remind you of the pivotal role played by Peachtree Creek Greenway, Inc. (PCGI) in bringing this vision to life.
Upcoming Developments: As we step into the next year, significant milestones await the PCG. A key development is the replacement of the bridge over North Druid Hills Road, scheduled for the first quarter. This project, spearheaded by the Georgia Department of Transportation, is not just a structural enhancement but a gateway to further expansion. It includes creating a trail passage under the bridge, a crucial link in the Greenway’s chain.
Further south, the City of Brookhaven is gearing up to commence construction on the segment of the PCG stretching from North Druid Hills Rd. down to the city limits near Greens Liquor Store on Buford Highway. This segment will eventually connect to Atlanta’s portion of the PCG, leading to the Confluence Bridge off of Adina Drive, where the Greenway will meet the Atlanta Beltline.
Looking north, plans are in place for Brookhaven to start construction from Briarwood Rd. near REI, extending up to Clairmont Rd. at Sam’s Club. This expansion is a significant stride towards our vision: in about five years, you’ll be able to journey from Sam’s Club to the Beltline, PATH 400 and beyond.
