Visit Peachtree Creek Greenway

Think about how the BeltLine began…People came together in a grassroots effort; with city and county officials, business leaders, non-profits, and neighborhood associations embracing the project and providing their support and hard work.

In 1999, DeKalb County and the PATH Foundation created a plan for bike paths throughout DeKalb County.

• “DeKalb’s Greenway Trails” included the 12.3-mile North Fork Peachtree Creek Trail to “tunnel commuters into Atlanta and DeKalb County employment centers” to Century Center, Executive Park, Northeast Plaza, the Buford Highway corridor, and the Lindbergh and Doraville MARTA stations.

• Peachtree Creek Greenway, Inc., a 501(c)(3)non-profit organization, envisions a similar path plan along the North Fork Peachtree Creek.

• In 2013, with PCG acting as liaison between PATH and the City of Brookhaven, the City updated the maps and committed to a 3-mile linear park. Initial visioning, stakeholder involvement and planning started in 2015.

• The Model Mile in Brookhaven opened December 2019.

• Chamblee, Doraville and Unincorporated DeKalb support the Greenway, although plans have not yet been defined.

The vision, will of the people, and our elected officials will ultimately determine the location of the PCG. The vision is for the Greenway to run along the North Fork Peachtree Creek, beginning outside of I-285 until it joins the South Fork Peachtree Creek near the Lindbergh MARTA station and Path 400 in Buckhead.

North Fork Creekside Trail or Cheshire Farm Trail is open to the public. It is a 1.5 mile loop of unpaved trail starting at 860 Lindbergh Dr. NE and following I-85. It is anticipated that this trail will connect to the paved Model Mile, and become the southwest end of the Peachtree Creek Greenway.

The City of Brookhaven opened 1.27 miles in December 2019. This section runs from Briarwood Rd. behind REI, to North Druid Hills Rd. near Corporate Boulevard.

PCG Brookhaven

Peachtree Creek Greenway Inc., a 501(c)(3)non-profit organization, is working to connect the Greenway with the future Atlanta BeltLine and Path400, as well as advocating for the project in upstream jurisdictions through neighborhood, business and governmental support.

Communing with nature will be the feel of the park as visitors stroll and bike through a protected watershed of mature trees, native plants and wildlife. Pedestrians and cyclists will have a safe way to play, commute to work, connect to the BeltLine and Path400, and beyond. Eyes on the long-neglected Peachtree Creek will improve water quality, restore indigenous nature species, and help protect this valuable natural resource where beauty abounds.
